This is an invitation for you to enter your Pre-1943 vehicle for the Galt Old-Car Festival on September 28, 2008.
These cars are rare and precious antiques; some, 100 years old or older. They give us a special link with the past. For this reason, the Galt Area Historical Society, Inc. takes pride in presenting this annual event as its major benefit fund raiser for the Rae House Museum.
Galt Old-Car Festival’s Home The McFarland Living History Ranch, the new location for our Old-Car Festival, is the site of one of the first pioneer ranches in Galt. At one time, 2800 acres of land west of Galt belonged to Mr. John McFarland. Mr. McFarland came from Scotland to Canada as a child. He lived in Galt, Canada. Later he traveled west seeking gold, but discovered the real gold was in this fertile valley in California.
As a prosperous wheat farmer, John McFarland was respected by those living in the nearby railroad town. When the time came to give the town a name, he was chosen to do so. John McFarland chose the name of Galt, the area in Canada where he had lived as a child.
Because he gave our city its name, the Galt Area Historical Society, Inc. is restoring the Ranch to the days of the turn of 20th century.
You are invited to enjoy the Ranch and learn more about this historical restoration project. Due to insurance recommendations, there will be no house tours and no pets permitted at the Ranch.
Refreshments Coffee and Muffins for “Early Birds” may be purchased at the “Filling Station”
You may bring a picnic lunch, however, Bar-B-Que’d Tri Tip sandwiches, hot dogs, sodas, coffee, lemonade, ice tea, and pastries are available for purchase at the “Filling Station” throughout the day.

Applications must be received by Friday, September 19th to be listed in the program. Vehicle check-in will be: Sunday, September 28, 2008, from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Festival starts at 11:00 a.m. Registration will be limited to the first 100 entries. Pre-registration spaces will be reserved only until 10:30 a.m. You must arrive prior to this time to guarantee a space.
Please complete the registration form at the far right, also sign the release of liability, on the back of the form, and forward with your entry fee of $15.00 payable to Galt Area Historical Society, Inc. (G.A.H.S.) Registrations are non- transferable. Entry fee is refundable up to one (1) week before.
Only motor vehicles in authentic condition will be accepted. (body, running gear, interior, and tires/wheels must be authentic.) Trailering of vehicles is permitted; however, each vehicle must be driven into the assigned area.

We have moved the Festival to McFarland Living History Ranch. This means that you have the option to bring your cars on Saturday afternoon, after 3:00 p.m., to the ranch. You can use your self-contained RV or trailer to haul them in. There will be a campsite area for your RV. The judging and awards, we feel, should be secondary in this Festival and are provided for those in the hobby who enjoy this aspect of car shows. Each entrant will be given a voting sheet, (in the participants packet), which will give them a choice of selecting two vehicles, from each of the categories, which appear to them to be the most original, authentic, and outstanding in their class.
The vehicles with the highest votes in all categories will receive the Best of Show award at the end of the Festival.
Two major awards are presented:
Best of Show: Highest number of votes
among all classes.
People’s Choice: Highest number of votes
chosen by the spectators.
An award is also presented to the vehicle with the highest votes in each class.
Costume Award: For best dressed period attire
When the ballot is returned to the “Service Station” the participant will receive a dash plaque.

If this application is accepted, the undersigned participants, having their own automobile insurance, assumes the liability for, and shall indemnify and hold harmless Sacramento County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (and all of its officers and participants); and the Galt Area Historical Society, Inc. (and all its officers and members) from and against any and all liabilities arising from said event, holding them harmless and indemnifying them against judgments whatsoever arising, directly or indirectly out of or in connection with, participation in said event.
