This car is the People's Choice winner at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1939 Cadillac, Model 1708 V-12 Touring Sedan, owned by Sue and Lee Hill of Orangevale, CA.  They purchased this car in 1980 in Folsom, CA.  This is one of only 432 built.

Horseless Carriage, through 1918

1919-1926 cars

This car won the 1919-1926 competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1922 Detroit Electric Model 90 Coupe restored by Phil Gardner.  This lovely car was last year's "Best of Show" winner.  The driver sits way back and steers by a tiller.

Note, I was so pleased to see this car as it has been in my mind ever since I saw one in 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio.  I was riding my motorcycle and sitting at a stop light.  Without a sound a car pulls up to me on the right.  I looked over and saw this car with a very elderly woman sitting in what looked like the back seat.  She was holding this long bar for steering.  About that time the light changed and the car leapt forwards without a sound.  I caught up and rode along side for a block or two before she turned off.  Many times I described the car to people and just got this look of incredulity.  Yeah, right.  Finally, after all of these years I know what it was that I witnessed.  Thanks Phil.

1927-1930 cars

This Whippet won the 1927 through 1930 competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1930 Whippet 98A Leatherback, owned by Loren Ardrey of Sacramento, CA.  He found this in an airplane hanger in the Los Angeles area.  He is the third owner and it has about 30,000 miles on it.  This car is all original.

1931-1934 cars

This lovely Plymouth won the 1931 through 1934 competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1932 Plymouth Model PB Roadster, owned by Tom Lund of Yuba City, CA.  This car was in the desert most of its life, so it had very little rust, but had suffered a lot from an owner who had chopped the fenders and cut the running boards.  It took 3 years to restore and was finished in 2002.

Tom is a frequent winner with his variety of very well restored cars.  He is one of many who return just about every year with a car.  Thanks Tom.

1935-1938 cars

This is an Airflow Chrysler and it won the 1935 through 1938 car competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1936 Chrysler Airflow 8 Cylinder Coupe, owned by David Felderstein and Dan Hoody of Sacramento, CA.  This car is one of only 10 Chrysler Airflow Coupes known to still exist.  This car has power brakes.

1939-1942 cars

This very rare Packard Convertible won the 1939 through 1942 competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1942 Packard Model 110 Convertible owned by Jon & Jean Fuiks of Sacramento, CA.  They purchased this car in 1980 and collected parts until 2004.  A full frame off restoration brought it back to its 1942 showroom condition.  The paint color is original.  This car is extremely rare, as only 350 were produced due to WW II.

This nicely restored Stutz won the Classic competition at the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society.

1927 Stutz, Model AA S-15 Touring Brougham owned by John Fossette of Sacramento, CA.  The two cuties are Mercedes (9) and Angel (9).

Rod Noble brought out his classic horse drawn hearse to the Old Car Festival put on by the Galt Area Historical Society. It was very popular.

Rod Noble of Galt Funeral Home shows off his beautiful horse drawn hearse that is still used for funerals.

Rod bought it 8 years ago from Memory Chapel funeral home in Placerville. The previous owner was Mount Vernon in Fair Oaks. They had purchased it in the early 1970's. Before that, it languished on an Indian reservation in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for 70 years. It's history includes doing some time in Dodge City Kansas during the time of Wyatt Earp.

The tassels are original, as well as the trap door on the bottom of the hearse. Legend has it the trap door was used by some crafty jailbirds by paying off Wyatt and company. The undertaker would provide a bottomless casket, pick up the "body" from the jail, drive out of town and release the trap door when the coast was clear.
